The height differences between performers in WWE have a drastic range. Giants like Andre the Giant, Big Show and Kane found success as the taller players success stories. WWE witnessed shorter wrestlers also make their mark like Bryan Danielson, Alexa Bliss and Rey Mysterio. Shorter wrestlers have a tougher battle, but that doesn’t mean they won’t overcome the struggles.

10 Recent WWE Wrestlers With Great Physiques (But Failed Anyway)

WWE loves their wrestlers to have great physiques. While these recent wrestlers did look great, they still failed in the company anyway.

WWE has a few wrestlers on the roster who would not be an obvious pick to get hired based on their height. That typically means they thrive in various important areas of the business, like great matches or cutting compelling promos. The following male wrestlers in WWE are the shortest currently on the roster.

UPDATE: 2025/03/12 20:00 EST BY ANDREW KELLY

Standing out in the harsh world of WWE is hard enough, but it is typically more difficult for wrestlers on the shorter side. There haven’t been a whole load of signings in terms of shorter talents since our last look at WWE’s smallest male wrestlers, so we will take a look at how their fortunes may have changed over the last six months. For some of these wrestlers, more TV time has come their way, title success has been achieved, and their characters have been expanded, whereas for others they have remained in the exact same spot they were in some time ago, failing to make a massive impact in WWE.

Despite being presented as a badass and no nonsense character in NXT, Pete Dunne’s call up to the main roster saw him renamed as “Butch”, playing the role of a “little guy who has a tempter problem”. He was described as being a small but aggressive dog, with a lot of emphasis being put on the fact that he was smaller than those around him.

Ever since Triple H handed him back the Pete Dunne name and persona, he has carried himself as someone who doesn’t feel as small as he was under the Butch gimmick, which just goes to show that with the right booking, height doesn’t necessarily matter in someone gaining momentum and being a legit performer. It must be said that Dunne’s booking is still not at the right level, wandering around the undercard in WWE.

Throughout his WWE career, Otis has always been regarded as one of the larger competitors in WWE with incredible strength and a loveable persona, leading to several sparks of popularity and a strong connection to the fans.

However, despite being heavier and larger in frame, he is actually among the shorter wrestlers in WWE, standing under 6 foot at 5’10”. With his size and his infectious energy, he more than makes up for it. Otis has been garnering more consistent TV time over the last year, feuding with Chad Gable, sharing the ring with Gunther, and showcasing his talents as both a comedic talent and energetic bulldozer.

Angel (formerly Angel Garza) was someone who looked like a star during his NXT days, oozing charisma and getting over like wildfire. Unfortunately, his run on the main roster has been a complete failure, never getting past the point of being a background character.

A big part of this might be the fact that he is 5’9″ and way below the height of many of WWE’s top stars. His NXT proved that he had the charisma to make it in the business, but he hasn’t been given the opportunity to showcase that on RAW or SmackDown. His role in Legado Del Fantasma has done very little for his career, though 2025 has seen him experience a little more TV time in the tag team division.

Noam Dar has been in WWE for quite a while now, and despite some time on the main roster in the cruiserweight division, he has been mostly confined to NXT and NXT UK. Dar is a very strong talent in the ring, but someone whose size may very well get in the way of him achieving anything on a grand scale in WWE. Either way, he has proven to be a very relied member of the developmental brand, and his achievements on the brand have included the Heritage Cup.

For nearly a year, Noam Dar has been out of action in NXT, raising questions about his future in the company, especially since his stablemates in Lash Legend and Jakara Jackson have been getting plenty of TV time both in NXT and on the main roster.

With how much force Ilja Dragunov puts behind his strikes, the speed in which he crashes into opponents, and the way he battles through immense amounts of pain, he makes himself a believable opponent against anyone of any height. Dragunov is only 5’9″, but when he trades blows with those taller (for instance in his classics with Gunther) he can make himself look equal. Dragunov debuted on the main roster in 2024, and despite some potential worries about his height and size, he steadily became a memorable part of RAW each and every week with his impressive matches. Unfortunately for Dragunov, his momentum was halted thanks to a devastating long-term injury that has kept him out for many, many months. He will undoubtedly be a bigger player when he returns to the ring for WWE.

23 WWE Female Wrestlers: Who Are They Dating?

WWE’s female wrestlers do have a life outside of the company, with plenty involved in romantic relationships. But who are these women dating?

Since his last run in WWE, Andrade has worked hard to bulk up his physique a great deal, adding a lot of weight – more than most men his size. Due to this, it is hard to believe that Andrade stands as short as 5’9″, making him one of the shorter names in WWE right now. This might contribute as to why Andrade hasn’t had a strong comeback in WWE, being resigned to the Speed division, which is an X-exclusive show with matches under 3 minutes. Andrade does work well in that style though, it must be said.

Andrade has ventured into the midcard division on SmackDown, having an impressive feud with Carmelo Hayes, but has yet to truly break out into a star that many have expected him to be for so many years.

Throughout his singles run in NXT, Wes Lee has become one of the most exciting, charismatic, and athletic wrestlers on the whole roster. Lee is listed as 5’9″, making him one of the shortest in not just NXT, but the whole of WWE. Lee has a style that makes up for it though for sure.

After a long-term injury kept him out of action, Lee’s momentum will likely return as he traverses NXT and eventually likely makes his way to the main roster down the line. Lee has remained in NXT for quite some time, being a notable name of the development brand as WWE entered 2025.

Since coming to the main roster, Gargano has failed to really find himself, getting lost in the shuffle and feeling too short to hang with the top stars in the company.

Ever since rejoining Tommaso Ciampa in DIY, he has been able to show off more of his in-ring prowess, but it took them some time to build themselves up. 2024 and 2025 has seen them reign twice as WWE Tag Team Champions, turning heel in a move which has rejuvenated them as a duo.

The height of Chad Gable has held him back in WWE on a few occasions throughout the years. Gable’s biggest disappointment came when his name was changed to Shorty G for a short while to slow down any momentum.

Baron Corbin mocking his height in promos brought more attention to Gable being 5’8’’ and one of the shorter wrestlers in the company. There are many wrestlers just a couple of inches taller to make Gable look comparable to them. Either way though, Gable is still among WWE’s best wrestlers, and is finding more momentum in recent years. The last year saw Gable re-sign with WWE, but fail to win the Intercontinental Title, something many fans were hoping he would win. Gable has wandered around the midcard, feuding with the likes of The Wyatt Sicks and developing an unhealthy obsession with luchadors.

Although WWE has often been place where masked wrestlers have struggled, Axiom could find some success under the new regime, even with his size.

For anyone under 6 feet in height, they’ll tell you that halves matter. This is likely why Dragon Lee’s listed height is 5 feet and 7 and a half inches.

Lee has been with WWE for a little while now, climbing up the ranks in NXT which saw him score a North American Title reign, before a quick call up to the WWE main roster. Lee has slotted into the LWO faction, taking guidance from Rey Mysterio. Lee is insanely talented and has all the potential and likability in the world to be what WWE has been trying to find for so long – their next Rey Mysterio. Unfortunately for Dragon Lee, he has gotten lost in the shuffle on the WWE main roster, with the LWO being pretty much a non-factor for the most part.

The NXT UK brand witnessed a handful of wrestlers building reputations for being among the best talents in the industry. Tyler Bate joined WWE during the early stages of the brand as the first-ever NXT UK Champion during his feud with Pete Dunne.

The height of 5’7’’ makes Bate one of the shorter male wrestlers in WWE today, but that hasn’t held him back from having great matches over the years. With him now on WWE’s main roster, Bate looks a lot more shorter compared to the larger than life performers on RAW and SmackDown, and time will tell how he copes now that he has been called up. An injury got in the way of Bate’s main roster run, cutting short his tag team alliance with Pete Dunne as part of the New Catch Republic.

Sometimes when a wrestler is struggling, all they need is a fresh look. These attire changes completely turned these wrestlers’ careers around.

The height of 5’7’’ didn’t matter for Tozawa since WWE knew cruiserweights would be smaller when crafting that division. However, he has become a shell of his former self, being treated as a joke mostly. For smaller wrestlers, it can be easy to get lost in the shuffle, and that has been the case with Tozawa. His role in the Alpha Academy has certainly turned around Tozawa’s fortunes, gaining more TV time and getting more over than he’s ever been in his WWE career, even though he is still largely a comedic character.

The incredible in-ring skills and heart of Rey’s character led to him proving every single doubter wrong as an all-time great. WWE witnessed Mysterio becoming an all-time great and still delivering impressive work this late into his career as part of the main roster. Even into 2025, Mysterio is still competing at a high level, and is still the smallest man on the WWE roster today.
