She stepped into the ring against Mercedes Moné. Moné put her TBS Championship on the line and Vaquer put her NJPW Strong Women’s Championship on the line. It was a clash of two of the best in the world today. However, Vaquer came up short against Moné. It ended a 112 day reign with the NJPW Strong Women’s Title for Vaquer.

When Vaquer was a free agent, there was a lot of interest from both WWE and AEW to sign her. She was one of the top names in professional wrestling and any roster would be lucky to have signed her. However, one name at NXT personally called her.
Shawn Michaels, who is the head of NXT’s creative, personally reached out to Vaquer to sign her. Harry Ruiz spoke to K100 about how Michaels reached out to her directly about joining the brand. He said,
“Instead of having somebody call her, Shawn Michaels called her and then ended up laying out a plan for what they were going to do with her and then a good monetary offer as well. So she ended up accepting WWE because they had the money, they had the creative, and it made more sense for her, even if this means that she doesn’t get to work with New Japan and CMLL no more.” (h/t Cageside Seats)
