The Elimination Chamber 2025 premium live event in Toronto, Ontario, Canada ended in one of the most spectacular ways imaginable, as John Cena did the unthinkable and finally turned heel. Cena sold out his soul to The Rock, turning his back on Cody Rhodes and issuing a brutal assault, becoming a bad guy for the first time in over two decades.

6 Hidden Details Most Fans Missed From WWE Elimination Chamber 2025

Elimination Chamber saw CM Punk and The Rock share some history, while Liv Morgan and Trish Stratus hit different milestones.

When looking ahead to John Cena’s heel run in WWE, there are a whole load of opportunities for WWE to create something truly special and memorable, and for fans there are several things that we want to see. Whether it be a refresh in his presentation or something unseen before, the following are things we want from a heel John Cena.

New Heel Theme Music

John Cena Needs New Music

  • Cena has had the same theme song for 20 years
  • There was a leaked track from a proposed heel theme in 2012
  • He need to use this or a new theme song

John Cena’s ‘My Time Is Now’ theme song is iconic, but it does not fit a heel character. Cena revealed in an interview with Chris Van Vliet that back in 2012 there were plans to turn him heel, matched with new attire, entrance music, and more, and this is exactly what we want from a heel Cena in 2025. The leaked version of that supposed music is brilliant, and it would be such a fresh take on Cena’s presentation in WWE. Reverting to heel music did wonders for The Rock’s ‘Final Boss’ character last year, and it can be the same for Cena too.

Additionally, new elements such as a different attire, perhaps no longer sporting the jorts, cap, and t-shirt, would really shake things up for Cena in his final year in WWE.

John Cena Becomes Part Of A Faction

The Rock & John Cena Can Lead A Corporate Faction

  • Cena has never truly been in a faction
  • Those working with Cena could be elevated
  • A new era Corporation could make WWE programming even hotter

Aside from a brief spell in The Nexus where he was forced to join, John Cena has never been part of a faction in WWE. We want that to change in his run as a heel in WWE. There were already signs of a potential group as Cena stood tall with The Rock and Travis Scott at the end of Elimination Chamber. A new version of The Corporation or The Authority can form, keeping the likes of Cena & The Rock on top, using their influence to remain in the spotlight.

How Edge Wrestled In Two Elimination Chambers In The Same Night, Explained

After Edge lost in one Elimination Chamber match, he made up for it by deciding to enter another one later in the night.

This could be a great opportunity for several names on the roster, perhaps for the likes of Bronson Reed or Omos who could play the “heavy” role, or else other names like Austin Theory, Carmelo Hayes, Chad Gable, and more who are in need of a big spark or push. Another option could see Cena & The Rock recruiting fellow veterans like The Miz, Sheamus, and Randy Orton, trying to keep the younger and present day stars down who eventually rise up.

A 17th World Championship Reign As A Heel

Cena Has Never Been A Heel World Champion

  • Cena turned babyface before winning his first world title
  • It will be fresh to see a heel title run
  • Whether it be Cody Rhodes or someone else, whoever beats Cena will be a made man

John Cena should undoubtedly win a record 17th world title in 2025. Although one final underdog run as a babyface would’ve been nice, this new heel turn has brought about the desire from fans to see him as a heel world champion for the first time ever.

Cena having his very own reign of terror, “burying” babyfaces on purpose, cheating, and using heel tactics to keep hold of the gold and to try and keep himself on top would be fascinating to witness, and likely very entertaining too. Whether it be defeating Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 or else winning a title slightly later down the line, we want to see him as a heel champ.

John Cena Needs A Redemption Arc Before Retiring

Cena Should Turn Babyface By The End Of The Year

  • Cena’s heel run should have a happy ending
  • Cena’s retirement should be a celebratory moment
  • He should have a ‘Hogan at WrestleMania 18’ moment

John Cena should not retire as a heel, and before the end of his heel run we want to see him have a redemption arc. Being reminded of his true self and finding the light again before retiring would be the ultimate conclusion to John Cena’s story.
