WWE headed to the Rogers Center in Toronto, Ontario, Canada for the 2025 edition of the Elimination Chamber premium live event for a show that saw a whole host of WrestleMania 41 implications. Much like many cards under the creative rule of Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque, this show only featured a handful matches, with just four bouts making up the card (much like last year’s event) in addition to a big segment between Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and ‘The Final Boss’ The Rock.

In terms of structure, this was a typical tag team match that saw the heels dominate, and the babyfaces flurry. Jax & LeRae did a good job in their heel role, ragdolling Stratus and showcasing a lot of attitude in the ring. Stratus was on fire, showing little signs of ring rust, taking several bumps and performing her greatest hits.

There were a few awkward spots and moments such as the set up final Prettiest Moonsault Ever from Stratton onto Jax, but for the most part the match played out fairly well. It wasn’t anything special by any means, with predictable structure, but the audience were pretty invested. Stratton & Stratus picked up the win in front of Stratus’ home country crowd.

3

Bianca Belair Vs. Liv Morgan Vs. Bayley Vs. Roxanne Perez Vs. Naomi Vs. Alexa Bliss (Elimination Chamber)

This Chamber match kicked off in a hot way, as Jade Cargill returned, issuing an assault on Naomi. This added instant storytelling and strong character work in regards to Bianca Belair, who was now distracted during the match and had to battle with that. The action slowed right down though, and the match lacked some energy from the fans in the middle portion, especially with what felt like very rushed entrants. Things improved drastically when everyone was in the ring, trading some big moves such as a massive hair whip from Belair to Morgan.

We’re officially on the Road To WrestleMania with the 2025 WWE Royal Rumble in the history books. How did the matches stack up?

The in-ring work was mostly very fluid, everyone got a chance to shine, and the audience grew along with the match. The final portion of the match told a decent story between Perez and Bayley, but aside from that there wasn’t a whole lot on the storytelling front. Both Morgan and Bliss put in good character-driven performances, but in the end it was Belair who emerged victorious, last eliminating Morgan to win the match and earn a shot at a world title at WrestleMania 41 against either Iyo Sky or Rhea Ripley.

2

John Cena Vs. CM Punk Vs. Drew McIntyre Vs. Seth Rollins Vs. Damian Priest Vs. Logan Paul (Elimination Chamber)

The several interweaving stories in this match provided a good and solid foundation to the bout, particularly when it came to the interactions involving CM Punk and his several enemies – the bad blood between Rollins and Punk was a great story, as was the renewed rivalry between Cena and Punk. The match had some good spots, nice interactions, but not everything was perfect. McIntyre’s elimination fell really flat, with fans not all too interested in his program with Priest, and at times in the match the crowd came across as fairly quiet on-screen, though things really heated up in the latter stages.

The narrative of Cena picking up the pieces after Rollins interfered to attack Punk, despite usually being a very righteous babyface, was another potential tease that Cena might not be as perfect as has always seemed to be throughout his career. The post-match will be talked about for decades, as Cena turned heel for the first time in decades, shocking the world and selling his soul to The Rock, though this cannot be rated alongside the match itself.

The opening minutes of this match had a very methodical pace, not quite matching up to the intensity that many came to expect. However, their respective performances from a character standpoint were strong, showing a lot of emotion as they brawled with a variety of weapons (including some brutal moments with a barbed wire wrapped chair), into the crowd, and even tried to bite one another. The spot of Zayn being pushed off the top rope and through two tables was a wild one, as was a brutal suplex onto a chair, and it led to Zayn’s selling of the neck being escalated.

These two are destined to do it forever! Which Sami Zayn Vs. Kevin Owens match in WWE stands above all the rest?

The pace was certainly way too slow at times, but as the match built, it felt like more of an authentic fight and battle, with the selling of both men creating a whole lot of investment from the audience, especially as the brutality of the spots increased. Owens would hit multiple powerbombs onto the ring apron, calling back to how their story in WWE began, winning the match and doing a great deal of damage to his friend. The return of Randy Orton after the match proved to be a strong development in the ongoing story between himself and Owens.
